Reasons to Remove Snow from Your Roof

Snow can be pretty, but it can also be problematic. Those who live in places that regularly get snow realize that they will have to remove snow from their cars and driveways. State Farm points out that that it is a good idea to take the time to remove the snow from the roof of your home, too. When I was really young, I remember a time when my family experienced a Midwestern blizzard. Snow piled up higher than I’d ever seen it before (or since). My father used a rake to knock snow from the roof. Once he cleared … Continue reading

Prepared for Unexpected Snow

Saturday just proved to me how important it is to be prepared for the unexpected. By now I’m sure you have either heard about it or experienced it yourself, but some parts of the east coast got snow, in October, a rarity. It also happened that we had our church’s annual trunk or treat scheduled. We were prepared to move things indoors, despite the snow and the Nor’easter, until we found out … Continue reading

It has been a perfect time after the busy Christmas rush. The simple life. Today, we’ll go to church and maybe hike through a … Continue reading

Sick Kit Tricks

With the colder weather here (snow in October!) and a few viruses already under our belt, it is definitely time to check and supply the sick kit. The sick kit comes in handy when anyone is sick, including mom. Maybe I should say especially mom, since when I am sick I tend not to get rest, and this draws out the illness more; can I get an Amen? While I don’t often store the entire kit together in one place, I do make sure that everything needed is stocked in easy locations. Standard kits might include tissues, medication, etc., but … Continue reading
