The following Christmas-themed games and projects are sure to keep your guests in the holiday spirit long after they leave your home: Christmas Sing-Off:  Instead of bundling up to go caroling outdoors, host a karaoke contest inside using holiday-themed tunes.  Or, you could have your guests split into groups and sing favorite songs a cappella. Things Our Kids Have Lost

In today’s world it seems that you are either a Tiger Mom, or you’re not. There is no in between and each camp thinks the other is doing it wrong. As a single mother I worry all the time that I’m not doing the right things to help my child be successful. Should I push more? Should I hold Hailey to a higher standard to ensure that she is successful or will that just make her resentful? Should I relax more? Let Hailey figure out who she is and go with the flow or will that make her lazy and … Continue reading

Be Prepared for School Holidays

Many of my friends who are also working parents are scrambling right now to get child care. Stay at home parents are scrambling to figure out what to do with the kids. A combination of half days off and full days off is throwing everyone off of schedule. And with the big holidays coming, things are going to get even more confusing. If you can do a little preparation now, your household will be in great shape, leaving you to take advantage of the school holidays, so everyone has a great time while they are off. Planning ahead will really … Continue reading

Enter Band-Aid’s “Fashion Malfunction” Story Contest

Usually, when someone has a “fashion malfunction” the last thing they want to do is share it with the world! Now, however, there is good reason to do it. Band-Aid is having a “Fashion Malfunction” story contest. Share your story, and you could win a $2,500 Cynthia Rowley shopping spree, and a styling session! Every first aid kit should include some band-aids. The types of band-aids that you typically find inside a first aid kit are beige. They are quite functional, but, no one would consider them to be a “fashion statement”. Those of you with children probably can think … Continue reading

Peaceable Kingdom: Sticker Kits

Peaceable Kingdom is know for making earth friendly, top quality, and fun products that children love. In addition to their creative learning games, cooperative games, unique birthday cards, and diaries they also offer stickers! My love for stickers has hardly diminished since I was a child. I still enjoy giving stickers to my children and love how excited they get over this simple concept. Over the years stickers retained their fun but have come a long way. Instead of simple sticky backed images children put on notebooks, folders and papers we see sticker activities and kits. Peaceable Kingdom had a … Continue reading

Home Business Idea: Little Passports

Back in June I introduced my homeschool readers to Little Passports. My first grader and I have enjoyed the product immensely. Little Passports is a monthly subscription program that introduces your child to the world. Each month your child is sent a package with information about a new county and other little surprises. My daughter and I have already experienced a few countries with Brazil and Japan being favorites. So today I am just as excited to introduce you to a new business opportunity brought to you by Little Passports. The other day I received an email from Little Passports, … Continue reading

Homemade Kits

I will be attending a baby shower this weekend, but have yet to purchase the gift. In contrast, my friend (and ride to the party) not only has her gift wrapped, she actually made the entire thing from scratch…kinda. She’s giving our pregnant pal a homemade baby scrapbook kit. I am having second thoughts about riding with her now. There’s no way my gift is going to be able to top the one she’s giving, yet I love it anyway. In fact, I wish she had made one for me. Wink, wink. She insists that it was a breeze to … Continue reading

More DIY Christmas Craft Kits 3

Isn’t it amazing how much craft kits cost these days. A bucket of foam crafts costs about $8 at the regular price. I admit that I do occasionally buy these kits anyway, because they are so convenient. Most of the time, though, I try to prepare my own craft kits ahead of time, especially when I need a bunch of craft kits for a group of kids in school or in church. My own kids enjoy putting crafts together as well. Preparing my own craft kits really has saved me money. This week, I’m sharing some of my favorite ideas … Continue reading

DIY Kid’s Christmas Crafts Kits

While foam crafts and pre-made Christmas kits are fun, the cost of all of those supplies can really add up. Fortunately, there are many fun Christmas crafts that you prepare ahead of time for kids. These do it yourself kits can be given as gifts, used as group crafts or just enjoyed with your kids at home. I know about preparing kid’s Christmas kits first hand, thanks to our annual Christmas festival at our church. We prepare different craft kits that can be used by the children in the Sunday School, in SuperChurch, in the preschool and during the three … Continue reading
